The company, which has 25 employees, is leaving the former Bomal site for the new Baillonville factory near Marche-en-Famenne. This was a decisive turning point for the Tilman laboratory, which initiated an “export” activity in the same year.

In 2000, Jean-Noël Tilman hired an export manager. The new facilities are among the most modern in Europe for the manufacture of phytotherapy products.

The new laboratory complies with the international GMP standards for the pharmaceutical industry (Good Manufacturing Practices) and the HACCP standards (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) for the food industry.

Tilman is certified by Certisys for the manufacture of its organic products.

With 150 employees and a turnover of €30.6 million, our production areas were very tight.

This time, the extension was carried out “inside”, by converting warehouses into production premises.

For Jean-Noël Tilman, receiving this Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2013 was “a great surprise, a great pleasure… Our success is due to two things: our passion and the excellence of the entire company. Making my company grow, seeing it become more and more efficient with more and more motivated employees at my side, that’s a real pleasure. »

With a turnover of €17.5 million, and a workforce of more than 100 employees, the plant had become too small.

The new premises are equipped with tablet and syrup production lines.

The Tilman Laboratory supports the NGO Action Damien, which treats leprosy and tuberculosis patients in Africa and Asia.

Each time a box of Biolys or Eucalygum is sold, Tilman donates €0.05 to the NGO.
Since 2008, more than 350,000€ has already been paid.

The attraction for sustainable development, and the socially responsible attitude, were realities that had been present in the company for years, but in an informal and partly unconscious way.

The Tilman laboratory has become aware of this philosophical priority, formalized, structured and communicated it. It is also an essential strategic choice that sets Tilman apart from most of its competitors.

In the medium term, companies that do not place social and environmental issues high on their agenda will be banned by consumers; they will disappear.

Since our arrival in Baillonville, the turnover has increased from €2.5 million to €8.0 million, and the number of employees from 30 to 75.

Establishment of an R&D department that develops and registers new herbal medicines.

This is a fundamental strategic choice, which allows Tilman to stand out from most of its competitors operating in the field of herbal medicine, whose products are food supplements, much cheaper to develop, but with a much more precarious status in terms of regulation.
